Description
A little more than a mile from my home, this trail lies at the beginning of my daily walk in Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. This incredible place is my muse, my connection to the tangible world of undisturbed nature.
The 31,000-acre preserve lies in the Sand to Snow National Monument and is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. What makes it so incredible is that it is surrounded by desert on all sides, the Mojave Desert on the north and the Colorado Desert on the south. Several animals make the preserve home, including Black Bear, Mule deer, coyote, Gray and Kit fox, and world-renowned array of rare and migratory birds.
