Description
A Comet moth with a border of ginkgo leaves.
The comet moth or Madagascan moon moth is native to the rainforests of Madagascar. The male has a wingspan of 20 cm (7.9 in.) and a tail span of 15 cm (5.9in.), making it one of the world’s largest silk moths. When these nocturnal moths emerge from their cocoons, they can no longer eat. They only live four to eight days as they race to mate and reproduce.
Such a fleeting life for a wondrous and endangered work of art. I gave this a border of Gingko leaves simply because I love the unique shape.
