Description
Rhinoceros beetle with open wings with a neural bubble border.
Beetles don’t get the respect they deserve. Some beetle’s iridescent shells look like jewels. Others have elaborate body structures like the Rhinoceros beetle. These beetles are also called Hercules beetles because of their strength. Adults of some species can lift objects 850 times their weight. (That would be like a human lifting nine fully grown elephants.) I’m lucky to lift myself out of bed some days. I digress. These herbivorous beetles can grow up to 6 inches (15cm), have horns they use for digging and fighting, and live on every continent except Antarctica.
