Years ago, I ran across these ironstone concretions and bleached bones while hiking in the Southern Utah desert. The round nodules were metallic on the outside and were hollow on the inside and only about an inch in diameter. Even as a geology major, I could never figure out what caused them.
The figure sits in awe of the mysteries of the universe and the power of wind and sun to strip nature bare.
Thank you for finding my work! The subjects I choose to paint are frequently inspired by nature and imagining my place in the universe. I have a fondness for the ease of acrylics, but also work with colored pencils, watercolor, oils, and just about any medium I can get my hands on (I think I might be a hoarder of art supplies). Born in Southern California, raised in the mountains of Northern Utah, I have lived much of my adult life in the desert solitude near Palm Springs (with a brief 2-year fling in the tropics of Hawaii). I have enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and lush environment of all these areas. As an avid hiker and camper, I find the deserts, mountains and ocean beaches to be some of my favorite places. Very interesting imagery Kim, it just draws the viewer in to see what's going on.... It is a desolate parched scene, yet I keep examining it ! Very nicely conceived and executed - I would definitely stop to look at this in a gallery! jean
