Description
A bee hovers over jumble of new pencils symbolizing the end of summer and the beginning of school.
As a teacher for 25 years, the end of summer was always bittersweet. No more lazy days working on art and writing, back to eleven-hour workdays. But seeing little faces light up with new discoveries, finding success in their endeavors, gave a sense of purpose to my life. I retired this year and now find new meaning and depth through art and volunteering at a nature preserve.
