This gorgeous cactus, Opuntia Microdasys, subspecies Rufida Giromagis, sits alongside our front walkway. Among the many drought-resistant plants in our yard, it is my favorite. It has rich cinnamon-red fuzzy buttons and lemon-yellow flowers. While in bloom, it is a hot spot for local bees. My husband is less fond of it. Those beautiful fuzzy buttons are more lethal than they look.
Thank you for finding my work! The subjects I choose to paint are frequently inspired by nature and imagining my place in the universe. I have a fondness for the ease of acrylics, but also work with colored pencils, watercolor, oils, and just about any medium I can get my hands on (I think I might be a hoarder of art supplies). Born in Southern California, raised in the mountains of Northern Utah, I have lived much of my adult life in the desert solitude near Palm Springs (with a brief 2-year fling in the tropics of Hawaii). I have enjoyed the beauty, tranquility, and lush environment of all these areas. As an avid hiker and camper, I find the deserts, mountains and ocean beaches to be some of my favorite places.
